Before I dive into the PureBiotics review I need you to please read my post on Biofilm and Mold. It will help you understand this whole PureBiotics line of products so much better!
When it comes to cleaning throwing the good microbes out with the bad is not the best approach. Your home is a living organism of sorts and you want to encourage healthy microbes to do their work.
Probiotics are live microorganisms, long incorporated into certain foods and dietary supplements, that are intended to have health benefits. Whether utilized on their own or in tandem with existing cleaning strategies, environmental probiotics can help to ensure that the bacteria levels are kept properly in balance.
The rationale behind the use of probiotics is straightforward. Traditional mold removers and disinfectant sprays indiscriminately kill all bacteria, both harmful and beneficial, causing an imbalanced, sterile environment that could increase the risk of pathogens’ evolving resistance.
In contrast, probiotics offer a natural, chemical-free and environmentally friendly solution to combating “Sick Building Syndrome.” The probiotics in these cleaners consume contaminant waste such as mold spores, dust mite fecal matter, pollen, dead skin cells, and pet dander while maintaining the balance of essential bacteria in the environments where people live and work.
Studies have been done that successfully demonstrate the potential of probiotics, as air and surface purifiers, to control the growth of bad microorganisms while retaining beneficial varieties.
Let’s talk about PureBiotic
Unlike disinfectants, antimicrobial soaps, biocides or other chemicals that destroy all of the microorganisms (good and bad) present, PureBiotic’s probiotic cleaners create a healthy microbial balance, without killing anything.
Following the natural principle of competitive exclusion, millions of tiny probiotic workers flood the surface, consume all of the resources, and crowd out unwanted germs and contaminants. These beneficial bacteria also provide a safe layer of protection, lasting for up to 3 days.
PureBiotic StaBiotics™ are stabilized probiotics. They are stabilized in a spore form in a concentrated solution and need to be mixed with water to activate. The proprietary bacterial strains used in PureBiotic products are all-natural strains and have not been subject to any gene splicing or recombinant technologies (No GMOs). They are beneficial and classified as Type 1 (harmless organisms). All strains are listed on the Canadian Domestic Substances List and the Association of American Feed Control Official List of Direct Fed Microbials.
PureBiotics and Mold Removal
It is important to stress that probiotics cannot solve a large existing mold. You still need to properly remove the mold or hire a professional mold remediation company. What probiotics can do is help prevent the recurrence of mold once the initial remediation work has been completed. It is an example of “completing the cycle” rather than doing anything permanent on their own.
So how can probiotics be introduced into a home or business, once the mold remediation process has been completed?
The first step involves fogging the indoor space with a relatively large amount of probiotic cleaner. The probiotics will help eliminate any mold-related odors that remain in the air. The probiotics themselves do not remain in the air, however. Instead, they settle onto every surface within the home and begin to colonize it. The probiotics provide a “microbial kick start” to begin rebalancing the levels of microbes in home. They also effectively create an environment that prevents mold as well as allergens and pathogens from overgrowing in these same areas.
The second step is to incorporate PureBiotic probiotic cleaners into your cleaning workflow. An overly sterile, out-of-whack home environment opens up space for toxic mold to flourish, because there’s simply not healthy competition to keep it in check. Cleaning with the PureBiotic probiotic cleaners will keep things in balance.
Can PureBiotics be used on tough to clean items that have been exposed to mold?
Absolutely yes! In fact, they can give you a level of confidence that you wouldn’t have with other mold cleaners since PureBiotics work differently.
Computers and other electronic items with fans for example are harder to decontaminate due to the fact that the fan will pull toxins in and out of the machine. Put the diluted mixture in a small spray bottle that creates a fine spray. Lightly spray the exterior of the computer and other electronic items daily.
To help clean up the interior space of the computer and prevent it from contaminating the surrounding environment put the PureBiotics cleaner on an organic disposable cotton pad like this one and place it over the fan. The pad will act as a filter, and the action of the fan will draw good microorganisms in that will help clean the inside of the computer. After a week or two of running the computer the pad gets quite full of toxins, so repeat the procedure again.
What About PureBiotics Cleaners and Mycotoxins?
When I first learned that mycotoxins would contaminate all items that are kept in an environment where mold is present, it seemed like an insurmountable problem. Mycotoxins are resistant to chemicals, heat, freezing temperatures, and UV light. Basically they are almost impossible to destroy.
If probiotics work to consume mold so to speak then would they work this way on mycotoxins?
I reasoned that just like molds have evolved to produce mycotoxins that harm other living beings and give them an advantage over other life forms there must be microorganisms that evolved to decompose or eat these same mycotoxins. Those microorganisms are very obviously probiotics.
This article on the Role of Probiotics Against Mycotoxins and Their Deleterious Effects does a much better job of explaining how this all works than I ever could.
Will PureBiotics 100% work to eradicate mycotoxins. No. But it will help in ways that other products can’t begin to.

- It is used by mold inspectors and mold testing professionals worldwide as a recommended way to improve client’s homes who have minor mold issues that do not require full remediations.

Cons of PureBiotics Cleaning Products
- All of the products need to be stored at room temperature between 50°-89° F (10°-30° C). They can never be stored in direct sunlight and must avoid temperatures above 140°F (60°C). The probiotics could be rendered inactive as a result.

Toxic or Non-Toxic
Non-toxic. PureBiotics is as non-toxic as it gets.
Are There Other Probiotic Mold Removers?
Yes there are! P2 Probiotic Power and HomeBiotic are the other reputable makers of home probiotic cleaners. I have actually used them all and liked them. I personally think that the product variety offered by PureBiotics is superior to the other companies and ordering from one place makes everything easier. However, I do use the P2P I Clean Every Inch exclusively as my face and body wash.
Even though I use and love the EC3 Mold Solution Concentrate, the EC3 Candles, and the EC3 Laundry Additive, I have been quite pleased with the various cleaners and probiotic sprays offered by PureBiotics. I know that in general our immune systems have benefited from these probiotic cleaners as we do not get sick but maybe once a year. I like knowing that I am keeping our household bacteria ecosystem intact while banishing any rogue mold spores that may have settled around the house from normal living.
But don’t take my word for it! Check out these two PDFs to help you understand the true mold cleaning power of PureBiotics!
Using PureBiotics in tandem with the EC3 products is my recommendation for a mold free, healthy home.

Will the purebiotics degrade the EC3?
I wanted to fog first with EC3 to cut down on mycotoxin exposure when I am cleaning, fog again with EC3 after I clean, then fog with Purebiotics. But I am renting a fogger and only have it for a day, so I am wondering if the purebiotics will degrade the action of the EC3 solution? Thanks
Hi Lynn. Sorry for the delay in responding. I probably missed the boat here. You would want to wait at least 24 hours between fogging with the two different solutions. The solutions work differently but the EC3 really needs to settle for at least 24 hours.
